- 侦探 (全稱：偵緝探查，英语：Detective) 是負責调查案件的職業。指负责调查的調查員（investigator），意思可以是刑警或私家侦探。前者是专门责调查及侦破刑事案件的警察。后者则是通过私人委托，为雇主调查婚外情、寻人、尋找机密等的事情。
- 在文学中，有很多以侦探为主角的小说，历史亦很悠久，称为侦探小说（Detective fiction）或是推理小说（Mystery fiction)。
